The problem with a typical domain transfer

DNS records don't move with the domain when it changes provider.

Many people know the result: the website points to the wrong place, email starts bouncing, and someone has to recreate every record by hand. DNS SmartCopy removes that step — when you start the transfer, we read your public DNS records and set them up with us before the domain switches over.

What makes the difference

The same domain transfer — with and without DNS SmartCopy.

Traditional transfer With DNS SmartCopy
DNS records during the transfer Disappear and must be re-entered Copied automatically before the move
Email during the transfer Risk of bouncing messages Keeps working without interruption
Manual work needed Every record looked up and entered by hand None — handled automatically
Time until everything works Often 1–3 days About 5 minutes
Risk of downtime High, especially for email None — the records are already in place

Frequently asked questions about DNS SmartCopy

Have questions about how DNS SmartCopy works or about domain transfers in general?

How long does the domain transfer take in total?

DNS SmartCopy copies your DNS records in just 5 minutes. The actual domain transfer between registrars can take 1-5 days depending on your current provider. Throughout that time, your website and email keep working, because all DNS records are copied at the start of the transfer.

Does DNS SmartCopy work with all domain providers?

Yes, DNS SmartCopy works with all providers that follow standard DNS protocols. We read the public DNS records regardless of where the domain is registered today - it could be GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, or any other provider. The system automatically identifies all your DNS records and copies them.

What happens if something goes wrong during the transfer?

DNS SmartCopy has several built-in security features:

Rollback function: If something doesn't work as expected, we can restore previous settings
Validation: All records are checked before activation
Logging: Complete history of all changes is saved
Support: Our technical support monitors all transfers and can intervene if something looks strange

In practice, we've never had to use the rollback function, but it's there as extra security.

Are ALL DNS records really copied?

We copy all relevant DNS records needed for your services to continue working:

Copied automatically:
• A & AAAA (IP addresses)
• MX (email servers)
• TXT (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, verifications)
• CNAME (aliases/redirects)
• SRV (Teams, Skype, other services)
• CAA (certificate authorization)

Not copied (for security reasons):
• NS records (you choose nameservers yourself)
• Cloudflare proxy IPs
• Private/internal IP addresses

Does DNS SmartCopy work with Microsoft 365/Office 365?

Yes. DNS SmartCopy has special support for Microsoft 365 and automatically copies all necessary records:

• Exchange Online MX records
• Autodiscover for Outlook
• Teams and Skype for Business SRV records
• SPF, DKIM and DMARC for email security
• Mobile Device Management (MDM) records

Everything continues to work as before — your users won't notice the domain has moved.

Can I see which DNS records will be copied before I transfer?

Yes. When you start the domain transfer, DNS SmartCopy shows a preview of all DNS records that will be copied. You can review the list and see exactly what will be transferred. If you want, you can also export the list as a backup before the transfer begins.

Does DNS SmartCopy cost extra?

No. DNS SmartCopy is always included when you transfer your domain to us. The transfer price and whether a year is added depend on the extension. You will always see the current price and terms before completing the order, and some extensions can be transferred with no fee.
