Many of our customers switch from monthly to yearly billing to streamline their administration and cut down on invoices. If you use VPS services, this also means an immediate saving, as we offer roughly a 20% discount when you pay annually. Here, we show you how to easily make the change yourself through our customer portal.
Preparations
Before you change your billing period, it’s a good idea to log in to the client area at cloud.hostup.se.
Please note that if an invoice for the current month has already been generated but remains unpaid, the change will take effect only after that invoice has been settled. The billing period applies to your services (Web Hosting/VPS), whereas domain names are always billed annually.
Change the billing cycle for your VPS
To change the billing cycle, navigate to your VPS > Billing tab in the client portal. Under “Billing Cycle Management” you can freely switch between monthly and yearly:
Once you’ve completed the change, your next invoice will reflect it!
Change the billing cycle for the domain
On the selected domain, under “Domain Overview > Billing Period,” click “Change” as shown in the image below:
Common pitfalls
Invoice already generated: If you have an unpaid monthly invoice pending, the system will not automatically void it. Pay that invoice first, and the new annual period will apply from the next due date.
Discounts: Remember that the 20% discount on VPS is applied only when you choose annual billing. If you switch back to monthly billing, this discount will disappear.
Web Hosting vs VPS: Our web hosting packages (Start, Business, Unlimited) often feature attractive introductory pricing for the first year. Be sure to check the renewal price when you change billing periods so you have a clear picture of upcoming costs.
When should you contact support?
Contact support if you accidentally paid a monthly invoice right before you wanted to switch, or if the system won’t let you choose annual billing for an older service.
For VPS, you can choose to pay monthly or annually.
For domain names, you can choose to pay annually, every two years, or every three years.
